Position details

Evermed is looking for an experienced, highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer, based in Belgrade, Serbia. The person will join a highly experienced tech team and focus on developing the infrastructure to enable scaling of their core platform. This means that you will take care of the overall look of the infrastructure strategy and implementation.

Project details 

There are three projects that Evermed works on:

1) An on-demand platform for consuming medical education, similar to Netflix. 

2) A live conference delivery platform. 

3) A portal focused on doctors.

All three projects are on the same platform but have different integrations. The methodology of work that Evermed prefers working on, is Scrum.


Key responsibilities

  • Set up full architecture from the ground up

  • Help maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the systems that keep Evermed’s cloud-hosted infrastructure running smoothly

  • Managing AWS infrastructure and maintaining the required service levels (including availability, performance, security, and cost) for their core platforms

  • Creating and implementing an infrastructure strategy for scaling their product across multiple platforms

  • Collaborating with product management, marketing, design, and technology teams, when working on business initiatives

Requirements

  • Linux system administration skills, preferably RHEL and variants

  • Scripting abilities: Python (preferred), Bash

  • Understanding of network topologies and design

  • Understanding of common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP, SSH, SMTP)

  • Knowledge of AWS and its various services (EC2, RDS, VPC, ECS, EKS, S3, Route53, IAM)

  • Understanding of TLS/SSL

  • Basic SQL and DB administration skills

  • HAProxy and Apache Tomcat skills: configure, tune, and debug

  • Knowledge of orchestration tools and configuration management (SaltStack)

  • Automated Builds (Jenkins, AWS Pipelines)

  • Experience building RPM and maintaining a YUM repository

  • Experience with database servers (MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)

  • Windows Server (services management, events log)

Mandatory requirements

  • 5+ years of experience

  • Strong security awareness

  • Experience with Docker

  • Experience in automating AWS environments (CloudFormation, Python/Boto, CDK)

Team

Currently, the team consists of two Lead Full Stack developers, a Senior Back End Developer, a Medior Back End Developer, DevOps, QA, and a Junior Front End Developer (HTML/CSS).
