Position details

Playstudios is looking for a Back-end Software Engineer to join their rewards development team. The role involves implementing new features, improving the existing ones, and providing support to live products.

This role primarily focuses on supporting the existing APIs and Tools and developing new features for playAWARDS loyalty web portals. The candidate must have knowledge of major web development concepts and be comfortable writing and optimizing APIs.

Project details

With playAWARDS, clients from travel and leisure industries will be able to integrate their offers into beautifully designed casual games as an integral part of the players' total experience. Their products and services are exposed frequently and over a prolonged period of time to a large number of extremely receptive consumers, ensuring that their brand is always top of mind. Nearly five million Playstudios users receive their first in-app awards during their first play sessions.

Key responsibilities

  • This position is primarily a Node.js API. The developer should understand JavaScript unit testing and the latest trends in API development

  • Design and implement production-ready components with the Team Lead and deliver high-quality products

  • In addition to knowledge of JavaScript and web development, the ideal candidate must also be able to troubleshoot and fix bugs with live products

  • Break down high-level goals into tasks and timelines with Product Owners and Project Managers and resolve issues

  • Review code with peers, share knowledge and best practices

Requirements 

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or similar

  • 4+ years of industry experience

  • Experience developing software with a team in a professional environment

  • Familiarity with Agile development environment (Scrum & Kanban) with Continuous Delivery

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • A detail-oriented, organized thought process and the ability to prioritize requirements

  • Strong debugging, profiling, and analytic skills

  • Experience writing and maintaining automated unit tests

  • Proven ability to build high-quality products

 Mandatory requirements

  • Experience with JavaScript, NodeJs, NoSQL, Web Development

  • Experience in Application Architecture, automation, microservice architecture, and domain-driven design

Team

There are multiple departments in the company, each with its own team. Games, Live, Meta, Platform, and DevOps would be the main teams. C++, C#, Lua, and Java are the most common languages used by developers, with React and Node being in the web domain and Python and R in data roles.

Currently, there are four Engineers on the PlayAWARDS team, and they are all Mid to Senior level.

Working conditions

  • Open to flexible working hours. General working hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM, and for playAWARDS team from 11 AM to 7 PM

  • Remote setup for the PlayAWARDS team (but employees are welcome to work from the office if that’s their preference)
