Position details 

As a DevOps Engineer, you will work on the company's in-house project - HomeStory rewards, which is currently in production. The team currently has three members - two Seniors and one Junior - who report to a Team Lead.

Project details 

They’ve named the product HomeStory Rewards. It’s an ecosystem that connects consumers, real estate agents, loan officers, and banks. By using this product, every person going through the process of buying a house will have a better experience.

Through their program, banks gain better insight into the home buying process of their clients. Furthermore, the HomeStory cashback reward program allows consumers to earn up to $6,500 when they buy and/or sell with one of their qualified HomeStory network agents. 

Key responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and support all cloud-based infrastructure that powers HomeStory’s e-commerce site and back-end systems

  • Help foster a security culture and enforce comprehensive security best practices throughout the HomeStory’s infrastructure and code

  • Set up and maintain automated monitoring of all systems to ensure maximum uptime and peak performance

  • Architect infrastructure solutions for maximum scalability, employing techniques and technologies such as “scale-out”, redundancy, automated failover, and microservices

  • Work closely with software development and data science teams to support their infrastructure needs and provision, and maintain all needed development, testing, and production environments

  • Employ DevOps automation, “infrastructure as code”, and continuous integration/deployment practices as much as possible

Requirements 

  • 3+ years of DevOps Engineering experience

  • Strong background administering scalable infrastructure in a public cloud environment (AWS preferred)

  • Proficiency in Unix system administration, network administration, and security, along with expert knowledge of associated tools and utilities.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash and Python, as well as SQL

  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented languages, preferably Go or Java

  • Experience with the modern source control tools (e.g., git) and CI/CD build/deployment tools (e.g., AWS CodePipeline, TeamCity, Jenkins)

  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, as well as verbal and written communication skills

  • BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Experience with container technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes

  • Experience with the infrastructure automation tools, such as AWS CloudFormation

  • Intermediate knowledge of the English language

Mandatory

  • Experience with Linux and Cloud 

Team

The team currently has three members - two Seniors and one Junior, who report to a Team Lead. The working methodology they use is Kanban.

Working conditions 

  • Open to flexible working hours. General working hours are 11 AM - 7 PM, 12 AM - 8 PM. Most teams have autonomy in defining this more.
